Construction Apprenticeship Mentoring Scheme
The key elements of CAMS are:
• An Online Resource, with information for current and prospective apprentices, news and FAQs, moderated chatrooms, and links to social networking;
• Telephone, email and face-to-face advice for apprentices and employers by full-time Master Builders Apprentice Engagement Officers;
• A Volunteer Apprentice Mentoring Scheme to match apprentices to carefully selected and trained industry volunteer mentors for more intensive one-on-one support;
• Supporting ‘out-of-trade’ apprentices through transitional training, continued mentoring support and subsidised work placements (NSW and SA pilots only); and
• Working with schools and communities to provide information about the apprenticeship pathway.
